The M-CTRAS Conference 2025, with the theme “Inspiring Research on Mathematics Classroom Resources,” officially begins today, 23 June 2025. It is held at Johannes Kepler University (JKU), Linz, Austria, in partnership with the Mathematics Classroom Teaching for All Students Research (M-CTRAS), the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), and JKU. Asst. Prof. Dennis Lee Jarvis B. Ybañez of the Faculty of Education serves as the International Program Committee Chair.
This three-day conference is conducted in a hybrid format to accommodate both in-person and online participations. Highly recognised scholars in mathematics and mathematics education will deliver various keynote and plenary papers. More than 70 oral presentations and poster exhibitions are expected during the Conference alongside a number of lab tours and other interactive activities.
UPOU Chancellor Joane V. Serrano delivered a welcome message, alongside M-CTRAS President Dr. Shuhua An and Local Organizing Committee Chair Dr. Zsolt Lavicza to mark the formal opening of the three-day conference. Dr. Janika Leoste, Associate Professor at Tallinn University and Tallinn University of Technology, served as the Keynote Speaker for the day. Also delivering a talk at the event is invited speaker Dr. Selay Arkün Kocadere, Associate Professor at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Türkiye.
A delegation of faculty and REPS from the Faculty of Education will present outputs of their scholarly work in this Conference. Through their oral paper presentations, the UPOU delegation aims to actively contribute to the goals of this year’s Conference to unite educators and researchers in addressing contemporary issues on mathematics education and their implications on classroom teaching of mathematics at various levels. Shared findings, best practices, and innovative tools for mathematics education are anticipated during the Conference to encourage collaboration among researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers for enhancing mathematics instruction for all students.
The conference will proceed over the next two days with more presentations, discussions, and activities until its conclusion on 25 June 2025.
