The Faculty of Education (FEd) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) produced 137 graduates for the Academic Year 2019-2020.

FEd Graduating Class of 2020 consists of 24 graduating students from the Associate in Arts (AA) program, 14 from the Bachelor of Education Studies (BES) program, 8 from the Graduate Certificate in Distance Education (GCDE) program, 1 from the Master of Distance Education (MDE) program, 70 from the Diploma in Language and Literacy Education (DLLE) program, 3 from the Master of Arts in Education (Language and Literacy Education) program, 1 from the Diploma in Mathematics Teaching (DMT) program, 11 from the Diploma in Social Studies Education (DSSE) program, 1 from the Diploma in Science Teaching (DST) program, and lastly, 4 from the Doctor of Philosophy in Education (PhD in Education) program.

Three students of the BES program will be graduating with latin honors. These are:

  1. Mariebel Balazuela, magna cum laude, top graduate among the FEd Graduating Class of 2020, and this year’s Class Valedictorian;
  2. Klaudette Zarah Leisibach, magna cum laude; and 
  3. Paulo Reyes, cum laude. 

For the graduate programs, three students are recipients of the Chancellor’s List and Dean’s List awards. These are:

  1. Pamela Gianan, Chancellor’s List awardee, DSSE
  2. Mark Joseph Poyaoan, Chancellor’s List awardee, DSSE; and
  3. Karen Chua, Dean’s List awardee, DLLE

UPOU’s first virtual graduation ceremony will be held on 5 December 2020, livestream via the UPOU main website and UPOU Facebook page at 9:00 AM. The 24th Commencement Exercises carry the theme “Revolutionizing Disruptions for Excellence and Equity.”

Meanwhile, after the graduation ceremony, FEd’s Faculty Recognition and Fellowship Program will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on the same day via Zoom. The details of the program are as follows:
