Faculty of Education (FEd) faculty members and REPS received Best Paper Awards during the 2026 Mathematics Classroom Teaching Research for All Students (M-CTRAS) Conference held at Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai, China. The awards recognised outstanding research papers presented during the 2025 M-CTRAS Conference held at Johannes Kepler University (JKU), Linz, Austria, on 23-25 June 2025.

Asst. Prof. Dennis Lee Jarvis B. Ybañez, together with his co-author Dr. Catherine Vistro-Yu, received the First Prize Best Paper Award for their paper, “Students’ Shifting and Redefinition Process of Visualizing the Sample Space Through the Lens of Action, Process, Object, and Schema (APOS) Theory”.

Meanwhile, Asst. Prof. Ybañez, Asst. Prof. Angel Mae O. Ombid and Mr. Harold V. Mangubat received the Third Best Paper Award for their collaborative paper, “A Proposed Hybrid Cascade Model (HCM) for Technology-Integrated Mathematics Teacher Training”. 

The Best Paper Awards competition received paper submissions from participants representing various universities across multiple countries. Each submission underwent a rigorous review process during the evaluation stage. From the entries, the Top 3 papers were selected and recognised for their outstanding contribution to inspiring research on mathematics classroom resources.

The awards underscore the quality and impact of research produced by the UPOU Faculty of Education and reaffirm the University’s commitment to advancing mathematics education through innovative and globally relevant scholarship.
