The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Education (FEd) is set to launch its flagship program PAGTULAY: Pagpapalawig ng mga Oportunidad sa Edukasyon para sa Pilipino (Inclusive Educational Opportunities for the Filipino People). This event will be held on 22 October 2024, 9:00 AM at the 2nd Floor Audio Visual Room, UPOU Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna.
As the flagship program of her term as FEd Dean, Asst. Prof. Charisse T. Reyes conceptualized the PAGTULAY program in line with FEd’s advocacy for inclusive and accessible education along with its mission of contributing to shaping the community through transformative practices in teaching and educational research. By promoting inclusive educational opportunities, it aims to empower the Filipino people in marginalized communities by bridging gaps that prevent them from accessing quality education.
The program will be implemented until 2026 through its sub-programs:
- Fostering skills and continuing professional development through microlearning opportunities
- Contributing towards rehabilitating persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) through higher education
- Promoting Indigenous Peoples’ (IP) higher and postgraduate educational opportunities
- Developing transformative academic programs and public service initiatives for the promotion of early childhood education at the barangay level
- Promoting numeracy, literacy, and STEAM education through active engagement with the community.
