The UPOU Faculty of Education consists of regular faculty members who conduct and publish research on various fields and aspects of education. By working on research that explores dynamic, innovative, alternative learning environments, technologies and opportunities, they continue to uphold the unit’s mandate to reach out to a wider spectrum of learners.

Ricardo T. Bagarinao is a Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. His research focuses on landscape ecology, land use and land cover changes, environmental management, disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and management, and spatial analysis (use of GIS). As an ODeL educator, he is also engaged in researches involving distance education, e-learning, and open learning.

Joel L. De Castro is an Assistant Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. His research focuses on mathematics education, development of innovative teaching methods, effective assessments, and inclusive curricula as well as the exploration of technology integration, learner engagement, and accessibility in ODeL.

Joseph A. De Mesa is an Assistant Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. His research focuses on laser and vacuum systems, thin film deposition and characterization, and simulation of laser-matter interaction. Additionally, his other research areas of interest are learning design, visualization in physics education, and data analytics.

Kimberly P. Florendo is an Assistant Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on inclusive education, secondary education, values education, educational foundations, philosophy of education, inclusive religious and values education, and values integration.

Lexter J. Mangubat is an Instructor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. His research focuses on educational technology, instructional design, multimedia learning, educational metaverse, and gamification.

Ana Katrina T. Marcial is an Assistant Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on learning design, higher education, collaborative professional development, learning materials development, open educational resources, gamification of learning, and transition pedagogy.

Angel Mae O. Ombid is an Assistant Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on mathematics education,  learning cognition, textbook analysis, and task design.

Charisse T. Reyes is an Assistant Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on chemistry education research, science education research, and learning analytics.

J. Aleta R. Villanueva is an Associate Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. Her research focuses on primary education, secondary education, social studies education, indigenous education, curriculum development and supervision, non-formal and community education, and higher education.

Dennis Lee Jarvis B. Ybañez is an Assistant Professor at the UPOU Faculty of Education. His research focuses on visualization, design science, cognitive science, error analysis, financial literacy and numeracy, and teaching and learning probability.
